Nia Web Assistant Disclosure

A plain-language explanation of what the Nia Web Assistant Chrome extension does and does not do.

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Single Purpose

Nia Web Assistant helps an authorized Nia user work with one visible WhatsApp Web chat at a time. It syncs the selected visible chat to Nia, requests an AI draft from Nia, and inserts the reviewed draft into WhatsApp Web for the human user to send manually.

Permissions

  • storage: stores extension settings, session metadata, and local diagnostics.
  • sidePanel: shows the Web Assistant controls beside WhatsApp Web.
  • alarms: records lightweight heartbeat and session diagnostics.
  • activeTab: interacts with the user-selected WhatsApp Web tab.
  • https://web.whatsapp.com/*: detects readiness, reads selected visible chat, and inserts reviewed drafts.
  • Nia backend host: connects the extension to Nia APIs over HTTPS.

Not Collected

  • WhatsApp cookies.
  • Browser cookies.
  • WhatsApp QR codes.
  • Browser history.
  • Passwords or payment data.
  • Hidden WhatsApp chats.
  • Unrelated tabs or unrelated website content.

Manual Send Boundary

The current Web Assistant flow inserts draft text only. It does not click send in WhatsApp Web. The human user remains responsible for reviewing and sending the message.
